The great 5E v 4E timing debate.

from what im hearing hes up his boost aswell since last weeks runs uped in bishopscourt:(

Will be interesting now to see how his goes, very interesed to see how mine goes. If we can get both a 4E and 5E timing map into mine I can swap halfway and test em both out up the strip.

yes ,is chris going to map it for the 5e marks now id up your boost lad with your comp ratio will take it nobother:)

Aye Chris is primarily mapping on the 5E markings, if he wants and we have time we can try a map on the 4E, I'm hoping the map won't need much adjustment between the 2.

ya should be getting better times now.am i right in saying the next drag is 13th sept.?

Going to try and get some waterspray and injection hooked up in the next few weeks. Dunno if it'll help much, the injection will be mainly in preperation for the nitrous.

i think the mr2 build will be put on hold for awhile:)

but if ur running high boost low down it will reduce ur Temps something savage!!
ders a couple of ways u can run Nitrous what setup had u in mind???
i was gonna run Nitrous Anti-lag but decided against it as it would be pure DRAG car and no longer road car!! and would end up very expensive.

The gas will just be a straightforward wet setup, 3500rpm-6500rpm. Mainly it will be used to spool the turbo rather than for power. Once I get it mapped and can see the sweet spot power wise, I'll be baseing it round changing gears within that zone.

But nitrous is a bit off yet, prob be for next years drag season.

ok i have some more input for this now :p

ive sorted out m wasgeate issue and now setup my boost controller to run 1bar (same as before) but now im on the 5e markers it feels a hell of alot more tourqey! 2 reasons - 2nd gear feels shorter and i get more tourque steer lol - i feel pretty confident in saying now the 5e markers are better for my setup :)


BUT - i think i now have a little more lag as between changes it kicks back in hard and on 4e markers it felt smoother :S?

On my forged 5e I used the 5e timing marks and have had great numbers. Using the 5e timing mark, I put down 245whp. I'm currently running the 4e ecu with the emange blue. I was told when I built the motor to use the 5e marks seeing how it's a 5e basically.

just a thought,

if you are using 5e head and cams the timing needs to be setup on the 5e marks.

if you are using 4e head and cams maybe you need to use the 4e markers?
