To be honest you have to rev the nuts off them so a EK9 will be faster than a sir, but its like our house..............theres nowt in it!!

EK9 type Rs are mostly white. They are available in black, silver and yellow but are rare.

I am selling a mint black EK9 type R as I am now going to do lots of miles with my job.:(

As for Jordans, I had number 1, it was presented to Eddy Jordan. Its numb in comparison to an EK9.

The Civic Jordan was just a marketing ploy to shift some cars.

Basically a Civic VTi painted yellow with some transfers on the side and you got a free bike with it when you bought one. Nothing extra special with the car.

texx is quite right, just a ploy, nothing special about jordans, in fact some slightly undesirable things like the yellow leather. but really to its credit i suppose its basically the NEWEST VTi lol

Dont buy a Jordan. Its basically a VTI With yellow seats and a badge!

If it were me, id be buying an older EG SIR Civic, reasonably quick, reliable and has quite good potential. Remember, they handle well too mate!

Dont be tricked buy some of the 1500cc VTEC's which are sohc engines, defenetly go for a DOHC!

If he can afford it, go for the EK9 Type R, i know a fella who had one, was the dugs baws!

does that mean that its gona be a alot harder to get insured on a type r then?

I find insurance for a EK9 easier than the Glanza.
Admiral or Elephant both list it as a Civic Vtec R. They wont insure a Glanza only a GT!!
I only pay about £240 fully comp.

I have been in a civic type r ek9 as well as an integra type r and there is no way the civic type r did 0-60 in 5.7 secs it's impossible for a car with as low a torque figure to do that time the integra type r was faster but all the ek9's I have seen and they are quite rare are doing 15's saw one doing those times everytime at the 4 and rotary nats back in January 2008 down meremere and get pissed on by lots of other cars around Pukekohe at superlap has anyone seen the vid of the integra type r vs type r civic on youtube? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4XZ1XKPF1U

I was expecting more from a vtec tbh

Your wrong.

On your theory motorbikes have no torque either so they cant be fast.:)

My friend put a b16b engine in a civic EG and only had a DC manifold and use to run constant 14.1secs 1/4 mile with it so they are quick!

Deano....... Sorry bud but you say the same thing every time...

No torque so cant do good 60 times?? You rev off the line at 5K and shift to 2nd gear hard and see what happens.... Will easily do 6 secs flats, 5.7 with optimum launch.....

Got mine dynod today and down a bit, made 170BHP..... Not sure why but hay... Will get mani/decat etc for it and use as some fun.......

Over here yes it is very hard to insure a type r civic. A friend of mine bought one and was told by the insurance company (Quinn) that that they wouldn't quote him until he was 25. So it's now "insured" as a standard 1.6civic :homer:
Shop around for insurance before you make any decisions on what car to get.

That is all they make. I was at a rolling road day in Letterkenny and a Type R Civic and Type R Accord DC2 both made around that figure. Both questioned it but the guy at the dyno said that is all they usually make and even ran them again and they made the same figure.

I'm not doubting anyone but if they only have 170 bhp and weigh 1080kg how can they accelerate from 0 to 60 in 5.7 seconds?

I think 6.9 seconds would be a more accurate figure

Dan you dont have to own both to be able to make a comment. Ive driven a standard ITR DC2 and was very disappointed with it. There are many people who buy hondas and other cars for that matter and then come back to Starlets, its down to personal preference.

There is no denying that the EK9 and the DC etc are very well built motors but personally I wouldnt touch one as they dont really do anything for me - its a personal choice.

Also to compare a starlet to the civic or the Integra for handling and general feel is like comparing the civic or integra to an evo... the evo is a more advanced car chasis wise and handling technology is very advanced. I could put my hand in my pocket today and get one but they really do not interest me which is why I am on a toyotagtturbo.com forum ;)

The next car for me will be a supra and regardless of what people say about there being better cars out there for the money... Ive driven one and it made a starlet and a civic feel like a smart car. If you have deep enough pockets you can have whatever power and handling you want but the "this car is better than that car" arguement is a bit silly because if you go on you tube you will see civics flying past supras and supras flying passed ferraris etc.. respect all is what I say. And I would be hesitant to big my car up too much before I got it on the track because there are some fairly ferocious starlets on this site and more importantly in my opinion... very good drivers.

Absolute ballox.
Sky is the limit. Stick a turbo on it for a start, readily available kits for these too.

Should have made myself clear. Without going the turbo route I ment, and yes they make good power with the turbo kits. Saw a civic recently make 206bhp@0.6 bar.

I dont understand where your going with that.
Original question was what is a Sir like? I dont know why people have to say how much faster their Starlets are. Whopee doo.

If you want a fast good handling car buy an EVO, yeh but a decent one is the 6 onwards and they cost about £9000 plus so its not an option when your on a budget.

I agree with your personal preference bith though:)

I never said how much faster my starlet was? what are you on about?

Also if budget is a concern I would say that £ for £ modding an original turbo car is cheaper than an N/A so is your argument now void?
