Ohh so its IN THEORY now well thats bollox you have to see what its able to do physically not bloody theory ,there are so many different parameters that could effect how much an engine can output and different tune ups that they wouldnt even compare if you do 2 engines identical which in theory they should put out thesame

Engine tuner have checked her out, ive seen Steve Sadlers name come up so many times and all I ever get is great praise for the man. He knows his Sr20s so thats why Im going there instead of to Alan and Martyn's.

well i think its you who have to dry your eyes and people who seem to cry when they see a good rr figure so many broken hearts on here when they see near and over 200bhp on a ct9 :beer:

lol,believe me lad,im not one bit worried abt a power figure for a ct9.its just that seems far fetched at 207bhp on a 'standard' engine.

I'm not wanting to dispute the power figure, I also just find it hard to understand how you've achieved it greg. I know a standalone such as a powerfc can give a much better tune over the usual emanage blue, however the actual peak power possible surely won't vary that much? Obviously the timing and fuelling can normally be more finely tuned throughout the rev range but at peak power the difference from a piggyback to a standalone can't be that different if the timing and afr's are the same? (Obviously a more aggressive tune will wield better figures but this will be true for the piggybacks too)

Off the top of my head I can think of four other starlets with basically the same spec, myself, gt matchew, miracle411 and someone with a white gt none of these achieveed more than 191bhp and all were basically the same peak power, I know three of them were also using an emanage blue, not sure on the other, so can a powerfc or similar standalone really give that big an increase in the peak power?

Who knows what fuel they were running there? methanol mixes are getting more popular. Would be interesting to see some other results from starlets there mind, the dyno may well be optimistic, There has been some high power figures made on it from a lot of other cars too

Personally, I don't doubt, because I don't really care about 1 figure as there are soo many variables that a "true" figure doesn't actually exist and on the road day to day the engines power will vary FACT. So why the hell care or be caught up over 1 figure?

Like mentioned, figures are not important, they are just to give a rough guide and a bit of fun. If it goes well and meets your satisfaction then why on earth worry?

i dont worry mate but when you take your car to a rr that reads whp and they tell you thats not possible it piss me off then wtf you take your cars to rr if then after you are gona debate what you can see! If someone come with getting 250bhp on a ct9 like someone clever tried to give an example with 400bhp! i would understand its not possible but if my car with the ct9 and standalone and yes i dont have power steering and ac get 159bhp atw which is 190bhp atf how can people that didnt even see my car run on the road or on the track say nah thats too much for what you have , thats not theoritically possible with a ct9 ! I andrstand that they ask questions "on what i have to achiev that bhp figure " but I only can list the things i have cant say anything on the tune up, or if with the dizzy from a ford 2ltr ohc mated to the gt shaft and a cossie coil is more efficient than the starlet one !

well im hoping to get the 200bhp mark i have got 181.8bhp as it is when i get back from holiday i plan to :

sort my blowing exhaust which was ever so slightly blowing on the day of r/r last time !
relocate air filter
management/ecu
water sprayers
earthing kit


apparently i will be well into the 190 bhp ??? i hope so i have been told that having a different ecu or management will defo give better results as it controls everythig better ?
will have to wait and see and will post r/r print out to !!

Remember that the 207 reading is a CALCULATION from the wheel HP.

Nexia - you ask why you run so well on the 1/4, you have the track temps to help. Hotter surface is more grip. This could be down to you superb time.

nexia there isnt one car over here that could do 190 bhp with only 2psi over standard boost no matter what the map. seems like reasonable doubt to me. your car is clearly fast as its doing 13.8s tho so well done for that. you sure your boost guage reads right tho?

the boost gauge reads wrong... thats from the dyno boost sensor

BHP figures don't mean dick at the end of the day, and belong in the pub with the chavs and their packets of McCoy crisps and pints of Stella. It's not about the figures, it's how it drives on the road that counts.
