cars just finished tuning, pleased and dissapointed

the afrs are between 11 and 11.3,

there is hardly any ignition advance on the car

when cruising the afr's are 14.7

it made 252lb/ft torque

i wasnt gonna argue the toss with the graphs because he knocked a fair bit off the total end bill after he sorted out various bits and bobs that went wrong when being tuned

agreed!

Its like driving your car blind mate, could be running 12 WOT afrs for all you know

and whats wrong with 12 wot afrs, isnt 12. something meant to make the most power?

edit: also forgot to add the boost turns out to be 1.4bar not 1.2 like first told,

all my information is coming from the datalogit file i have stored on my laptop

Id be wary of any tuner that wouldnt give you the graphs. If his tune is good what has he got to worry about if the graphs are posted on a forum and people comment. If he was confident in his work he would have no concern.

I would take it elsewhere Ricky and get it looked at again and make sure you are getting the full potential of the setup you have paid for.

yeah dylan thats the plan now.

think i'll get in with fc tuner next time i have the cash

i have the file for the datalogit saved on my laptop if anyone wants to have a look,

I agree with Dylan, defo take it somewhere else! He comes across as if hes got something to hide, which is never good!

So its actually 1.4Bar? Is that on your boost gauge or on his dyno?

tuner sounds a bit "shady" lol. Ignition can unlock a lot of power if used correctly, some people neglect timing and just take it out to be safe but no enough ignition is a bad thing as well. I would take it tr racing he is one of the best mappers locally.

im going from ct9 at 1bar to td04 at 1.4 bar in the next month and am similarly excited...
I've gone for standard td04 first and might consider td04 hybrid in the future...

I was speaking to a tuner from here (dont want to quote names) but he will do my work and just with emanage he reckons at 1.4bar ish 460cc injectors i could see 265-275 bhp...

250 seems low but if you love it who cares... figures are just that figures not feeling...

well done ricky well deserved.
and tobiah 'his' skills are proven he's mapped mine and it is insanely dangerous :) got cams coming next week so it will be better :)

ricky im am 100% sure it has not been tuned properly. I got 222hp at only 1 bar on a jam ecu,glanza_dan got 238hp (i think) at 1 bar on a dastek ecu.... Trust me matey at 1.4 bar you will be having even more power and fun with your power fc mapped properly.

oh i trust him :D he did my car at 1 bar ct9 and that was great for few months ;)

nice result ricky :)

do you know what model dyno it was run on?

like has been said above, that turbo should easily be up to the job of shifting more pressure than 1.2bar... to me sounds asif he's trying to play the game TOO safe, with not advancing the ignition up etc.. which is good for him, but not really for you, as theres probably a fair amount of power still to be unlocked without having to raise the boost pressure... and you obviously will want the best from your setup given the time and £ spent on it..

probably best to take it to someone who is familiar with these engine's and get it checked out and see if theres any room for impovement on the tune.

nice figures though mate, personally i wouldnt go much higher than that on a road going starbo, as the power tends to become un usable..

yeah when i left the car with him on monday when the water hose split, i told him when it's fixed, i wanted him to push it as i wanted to see what it could do.

when i picked it up he told me he has tuned it safe etc etc etc, with virtualy no ignition advance and 1.35bar boost, and the a/f's are in the 11's, he said the reason for him doing this is the pfc knock control system, incase a dodgy pot of fuel was added to the tank the knock would go through the roof, he also said that with the power it's at i dont really need much more for the road.

i'll save up for a bit and take it to someone else who is familiar with the apexi pfc

it was done on a dyno dynamics 2wd rolling road

Ricky if i were you i would enjoy the car as it is now with the safe map for some time and not go to any tuner where by trying to squeeze out more power to look better that your current tuner might fuck up your engine ! everyone here is saying you should map it better and its too safe and you should have got more bhp but if i were you i wouldnt touch it seeing the time and $$$$ spent on the car try to take something back so enjoy it as it is its no slowcoach so wtf if you didnt get 300bhp??? Go race it against a 300bhp car and you might surprise him as bhp is not everything ! so good luch with the car and well done thats a very nice figure from a 1.3ltr

Surely that's your decision to make...?
