Yeah if your that fussed i would blame the tuner tbh. what torque?

I got 252.5 fwhp at 1.25bar boost on the td04l and about 210lb/ft. 212WHP.

Oh and luke the td04 isnt an ihi unit :p its made by MHI (mitsibushi) ;)

Lets face it though when you hit full boost you ARE going to cack yourself!!!

Ricky you have to remember that IHI turbos are one of the most reliable at higher pressures. The TD04 seems very well matched for unlocking power higher up in the range, I'm supprised you thought you could vastly improve upon it even with a hybrid?

Post up a graph of your results, this game isn't just about peak power, it's about where that power comes available, where the torque lies, how that power is sustained, the area under the entire curve.

It actually makes my blood BOIL when people throw around a single peak figure. From my perspective anyway, knowing how irrelevant that figure actually is in the real world performance.

Regardless of all of this, how can anyone possibly be dissapointed with 256BHP from a 1.3litre engine?

Perhaps you own the wrong car...

lol,

i havnt picked the car up yet, all i have been told is that the car is an animal, and i should be pleased to own it.

when i pick it up i will have more info.

also when you buy something that your told will produce 300bhp (although i have always been sceptical of this claim) and that it will run at least 1.4bar all day long, and it doesnt do either of those things, i'm pretty certain most people would be a bit dissapointed.

i'm happy that its made that power, for a while it was looking like i never have this car back on the road,

and i'm pretty certain i dont own the wrong car, there isnt many people that put up with as much shit as i have with there cars ;)

i'm not chasing horsepower or anything like that, i was just expecting a different result,

maybe my own fault for getting in to all the hype surrounding the td04 hybrid

@gaz - it's an autobahn cooler, i have no idea of the power at 1bar at 0.8 bar untuned it made 176@fly

how did he know it was "losing efficiency"?

what model is the hybrid based on mate? if a standard td04 can run up to 1.7 bar (i know first hand from the compressor maps) then a hybrid version, depending on what was done, should be able to cope with the same if not higher?

doesnt sound right to me matey, who was it that tuned it?

getting 180bhp from a 1.3 is impressive enough but........this

now thats a proud figure if you ask me ;)

now enjoy the pedal pressed down and tell us how it feels on the weeknd, i dont think i'l ever feel a starlet with over 220hp :(

well done ricky :)

Well it's a little naive in thinking it 'will' produce 300bhp.

I do believe your comments are completely unfounded though. I run a smaller IHI unit that has pushed 1.4/1.5bar for about 15,000 miles, some of those miles on track. I have no doubt that a TD04 can do the same.

Your tuner is just advising, it may be his policy not to push too close to the limit for his own sake. He doesn't want to damage a customers car or be held liable.

Mate its still a good result and it dont actually matter, it is how it performs on the road.

After the problems you have had just enjoy the car matey :)

thats a great result man, you squeeze that up to 1.5bar & you would be close to 280-290 bhp. is that 4e? if it is, then its great result. dont be disappointed:)

sorry to hear that bud...tbh you've ruined my day... I was planning to forge my engine just so i can run it at 1.6 bar but if you only could get 1.2 bar there is no point what so ever... Personally i am P'd off alot now!

Anywho ricky as long as it pulls on the road that should put a smile on your face...

I might just get one of danes td05 hybrids....

he said it stopped making power after 1.2, he put it up to 1.6 and only made 5bhp more, so he decided to stick at 1.2bar for the sake of 5bhp.

it's a sacha hybrid td04, i assume its a td04l, and according to what i can find the td04l on the wrx has a max of 1.3bar, i may well be wrong but hey ho.

anyway, 256 is still impressive i cant wait to go and pick it up now though :)

WTF.

you can run 1.6bar mate. rickys tuner is obviously a bit rubbish. i dont understand why all you boys want so much HP considering your going from not a lot to loads of power. 250bhp is a LOT in a gt, especially when your going from 1bar on a ct9 :p

Dave's Hybrids..... :)

We cant both be called Dane :)

sorry dane!

Just really annoyed (not only myself but also for ricky) as he has put alot of work into his car recent.y...we both have been looking forward to up yhe boost to 1.4 to 1.6 and now this!

even though im running a 5e, same turbo as yours mate, 1bar is 240 bhp & 1.5 bar is 294bhp, so either that turbo is a dud or the tuner is a tool

i wasnt thinking i was going to get 300, i was thinking more 275-280,

and how are my comments unfounded, i'm just saying what i have been told.

as i said i havnt seen any graphs or anything, i've been told very little.

maybe it is the tuner not wanting to push things.

i would say hes playing it safe, these turbos run efficiently @ 1.5bar, so id say your right but hey if your happy thats the main thing & see how it goes on the road
