gtti (luke is it?) dude i look more or less the same as u in the before pic. and i defo would never wna be totally obsessed with gym. i actually enjoy going and pushing myself and would never turn it into a 2nd job lol. i just wna get a bit bigger built but not fat. like u are in ur after pic.

Well there you go, it's perfectly do able. I'm still naturally that same person, same genes, same metabolism, if I stopped weight lifting I'm confident I would return to a similar size.

I just eat more calories, more protein and push hard in the gym (4 times a week, around 1 hour). Haven't let it take over my life (But it is a change of lifestyle), but I am at a stage where to extract more out of my natural genes I would seriously have to eat more calories, protein and reduce alcohol. I'm not willing to do that.

I was probably about 10.5st in the picture before, I'm just over 13st now, trying to shed a little fat.

i do alot in the gym my advice loads of small weights but more of them you see idots going in lifting mad weights 3-5 times and there fucked it does noting

less weights over a long period gives you good endurance muscle tone and strenght

youtube is your best bet for at home exercises

get a punch bag best exercise you could ever do :)

and also no point doing any of the above if you dont have a good diet plan pm me if you want some pointers mate:):)

Well that's just wrong.

If you think you look skinny your best bet is a clean bulk so you don't put on too much fat whilst bulking up. So a clean diet, keep away from the rubbish. Lots of protein etc.

As for lifting heavy weights, you have to lift big to get stronger/visually bigger. Lift big, eat big, sleep big! Tbh I think all the info you could need/want you'll find here - http://forum.bodybuilding.com/

no, i take protein, just for nutritinal purposes. i load creatine for 1and a hlf months then off it for a month, this is so my body dose not become emune to it or dependent on it, bcoz as u obv no :L creatine is naturaly made in the body and i dnt want my body to become deppend on a supplement (will get lazy:L), the las ting i use is PROVON REVIVE which is a post workout drink, and i really like it!!

im guna give the pre stuff a go see how it is a mate uses it, and said it was a mad feeling alri, he'd lift slightly havy than me at the moe so he gave it a shout, id prob only take it for days when im benching or squating, bt we'il see. just have to choose one now, was looking at them on discountsuplements.ie!

Some mixed, and very good advice from some.

Good thread this which will help alot of people. The last month or so im making a real effort at the gym routine. Today ive bought a tub of cyclone, which is both creatine + protein, have changed my diet to a higher protein/carb diet and its working pretty well so far. Its about breaking the lazyness for me.

Im pretty happy with my weekly routine at the gym. I mainly do 2 days on, 1 day off. then have the weekend off sometimes.

Days are not religious for me, if a day i cant make it, i wont, its not a problem.

I have very much the same attitude as GTTI (LUKE)

lol i couldnt go to the gym for 15 min, i spend best part of 1 hour 30min in the gym 3 times a week at the moment.

One of the main things is diet. Without the correct diet and protien intake try as hard as you may the gains will be minimal and very slow building as apposed to using the correct dieting routeines.

Correct technique usage aswell and not trying to over do the weights to make yourself look ''big'' in the gym if you cant handle the weight appropriately. I find that alot with beginners when they have started at my gym.

Im in a team gym three times a week. Were told to focus on core, cardio and conditioning as the sport I play is hockey (on scholarship, have played for Ireland several times at most levels). I personally find the programme were given excellent as there is a balance between all 3. I would reccommend any beginners to ask there gym instructors for a programme along these lines. I generally start with conditioning (swim/weights/machines) folllowed by core (escercise ball/mats/machines that involve core work) and I finish with a 15 min run or cycle (cardio). Hope that helps! Stay away from supplements like creatine etc unless your a serious body builder/rugby player. They fuck with your head...give you horrible mood swings/ depression and there are many many other risks. I cannot believe people on here are reccommending creatine. I would advise that do a lot of research on supplements before deciding too take them. You really really do not need them

as said, everyone is different, some good stuff being said, and some shite

if your tryin to bulk now, i'd say train harder, reduce your reps now, maybe 4 sets of 6-8's, this is an inbetweener, and will help to bulk a little , but tone at the same time

its all good eating protien etc, but protien should be a supplement to what you can get from food first, its not a replacement, try egg white omelettes, i used to train, but not so much now, i have too much going on, and cant commit to it just now, ive put on 3 stone since i stopped gyming, as my eating is the same , but not training now lol, not good, but will blast it back down very quickly

some quick rules i follow, 6 meals per day, never more than 25gms protien per meal, no more than 2gms of protien per kilo of bodyweight. as anymore will be pissed back out, if you need a boost, try creatine, the Cyclone named above is good, but in my opinion, maxinmuslce is over-rated and priced, there are better things than that on the market.

oh, and get 8 hours sleep everynite, drink 3-4 litres of water per day, stay of the sugary stuff

diet is the key to toning

So you reckon you should mix up what you take? Like creatine for a month, then protein for a month?

no proteins an all round thing is just a food suplement, like they say lucozade is a energy suplement, take it wen ever, its just like having a breast of chickhen. i load creatine 4arguments sake 1month on 1month off..

"Stay away from supplements like creatine etc unless your a serious body builder/rugby player. They fuck with your head...give you horrible mood swings/ depression and there are many many other risks"

1st. CREATINE is natural made in your body, in ur muscles it what makes muscles grow, so sugesting its un safe is ridiculos as every human on earth produces creatine.
2nd. it steroids that fuck with ur head, if it was creatine every one wud be a looney den!!(just wach rise of the foot soilder) and the reason they fuck ur head is ur over loading your body by injectine hormones ect.
giv u mood swings/depresion steroids will, or u mite just be that type of person, i wouldnt say ted bundy loaded creatine and went wild...just that type of bloke :L

http://www.absolute-creatine.com/ dont belive me click the creatine thread!!!!!

oh and im not advising any1 to take any sort of suplementaion, its just the way the conversation went and what i use, i workout with ppl who use no suplements all they need to do is look at a weight and they see results, i sadly am not gift with that body type:(!!

whoa, back that truck up there now kid! yes creatine is naturally made in your body, that is the whole point. You do not need to supplement your natural creatine production. I am speaking from personal experience here. I regularily am in the team gym with my collges rugby team and many times our chats have gotten onto the subject of creatine. Now maybe they are taking too much, but a close friend of mine (was in my course for the first two years and is on scholarship with my college) described how his sleep pattern was changed, how his mood changed on anhourly basis one time too the point where once he started blubbering like a baby for no reason at all (an 18st rugby player!!) and all the other players I talked too described similar symptons to a certain degree (and know they do not take steroids as they are drug tested). The average person who just wants too get fit does not need creatine. All im saying is that people seem too be talking openly in this thread about creatine and less experienced people may be reading this thinking its gods gift! All im doing is trying to highlight the side effects and I would urge people too do research before using. I play sport too a very high level and I have never used supplements. I can do a 4.20 mile and a sub 11 second 100m, oh and I managed to run the whole way up Ben Hope this summer:rockon:

I also am not blessed with what you describe above, I also know people who are and ya it sucks because I have to work twice as hard then them. BUT I could outrun them anyday so it doesnt bother me in the slightest! I dont really need that much/any bulk for my sport...just conditioning mainly. Like im up at 30kg with dumbells and I could go more but thats plenty for what I need.

This thread is termed keeping fit. Somewhere along the way I think this thread has lost its focus. Going too the gym and doing just bulkbuilding workouts and/or just weights/weight orientated machines will not make you fit. Sure it will make you look better and stronger but none of those machines or weights will take you anywhere close too your optimal bpm and will not really excercise lungs etc.

If you want to get fit then go play 6 a side twice a week/ play some squash/tennis etc etc. That will make you fit! And then if you feel thats not enough/or you want too add too your strenght then hit the gym and do as I mentioned above a balanced workout..working cardio/conditioning and core.

Creatine shouldn't affect mood or mental state in any way. If anything its your kidneys you should be worried about when using creatine, just cycle it and you'll be fine.

There are no documented side effects from supplementing on creatine. Creatine is taken from everyday foods mostly meat, the rest is made in your own body.

So yet again more rubbish thrown around in this thread. Although I do agree, if you are going to supplement on anything, try to understand what it is you are ingesting and how it will help you.
