starbus they should come with the kit from toby etc
it wouldn't me as simple as changing the map, Far from it infact.
there are hundreds of differences between different Standard ECU's which goes the same for the Power FC unit. different limits for Water Temperature Signal, Pressure Intake Manifold Signal, Intake Air Temperature Signal, Ignition Feedback from the Ignitor-Coil, Distributor Position, Ignition Timing, Distributor Crank Angle reading, Oxygen Sensor (Lambda Sensor) Limits, Injector Pulse Signals, limits and impedance, Throttle Position Sensor Voltage and limits, Knock Sensor Limits and alot more.
so to adapt the EVO unit to work on a starlet you would have to program all of these individually as well as a few hardware changes that would have to be made. It's far more complicated than you think. It's almost exactly like getting an EVO Standard ECU to work on a starlet in fact probably as tricky
190 bhp ? thought it was 189.8bhp
We made that power just using a Blitz ECU.
It's a 20x20 on the power FC, but i didn't know you could get a 16x16 on the emanage.
What are these harnesses and where can you get them from?
Bah, don't be so pedantic!
The injector and igntion harnesses, you've obviously not looked into the emanage much at all. www.mohdparts.com has all the emanage parts and lots of info.
Also making 190bhp on 4efte with just a blitz ecu is quite impressive!
to be fair your not really taking in what people are trying to tell you, you seem pretty dead set on trying so why not just have a go lol.
fair play to you and will be intresting to see the results.
I'm sure a few have tried on here with the non ap stuff and hit a brick wall, but go for it. Its only money
These are the people i want feedback from.
If no1 has been there i guess i'l be the 1 to find out, even if the hard way.
But maybe a user might be able to tell me what didn't work etc.
I posted a thread recently about ECU's.
I was going to go for the Greddy Emanage, but it doesn't seem very good at all when you read into it.
I.e. only having 5 adjustable points etc.
I was thinking of buying any old power FC ecu, as there all the same i think. I.e. 1 for an Evo as there 400 not 1400!
And then just getting a harness like this 1.

Just wondering if anybody else has done this?
I think it will be a far better engine management than the Emanage.
Power FC's are good units, this is why the are so common. May bug tuners use them and a lot of mappers have experience with them.
There are better units out there, but then we have to take a look at budgets + costs.
The Apexi gets bad press sometimes and I don't know why. I think people think it is THE ECU of all ECU's which is not the case, which rubs up the wrong way on some people.
Take a look here:

Lots of info and there is a massive thread in regards to ECU's on this forum also.
Starbus,
If you are sure you can do it or would like to give it a try then go for it! Just try and find the cheapest Power FC going incase you fry it!
Thanks for the link, an interesting read.
Well thats the thing, i've looked at Emanage, and it didn't look great. Ok you can buy new harness's etc to make it better.
I've looked at the power FC and its very expensive for this car for a basic ECU. So i was wondering if i could buy the non Ap eng 1 and simply upload new base map's to it. I'm still looking into this.
Other than the above 2 there doesn't seem to be much out there.
have you looked into getting the greddy emanage ultimate?
buy that with the required harnesses,
apparently its as good if not slightly better than the apexi power fc.
an evo power fc wont work on an a starlet, because the boards and hardware a completly different.
pete (pet beemer)@ autofixed, was trying to build his own mappable ecu for starlets. i dont know how he has got on, but i dont think he was very succesful.
starlet ecu's seem overly complicated for some reason.
ap engineering used an mr2 ecu and changed little bits and peices to make it work on a starlet. maybe u could do the same thing. buy an mr2 ecu and try adapting it. (but i belive the had to adapt the board)
just so you know, Emanage ultimate will do everything power FC does, plus few other goodies. like launch control, dual switchable maps...
it works very well on the starlet turbo. so why trying to go the hard way ? now if you feel the fun, you might come up with something interesting. or not...
