heatwrap the exhaust and maybe even a bit on the axle where it hits. wont stop it hitting but will reduce the noise when it does hit.

I might give that a try, to start with just after I lowered mine and hadn't got the exhaust adjusted I had a welly boot cut and cable tied to the axle! Ghetto!:homer:

does the job though. a bit of rubber on the axle and heatwrap on the exhaust should do well

Banned - DO NOT BUY FROM TOYTUNING
That is the heat shield for the fuel tank don't remove it, it is quite flexible though do what Jay said and bend it a little. The banging will be over the rear axle which will be heightened by lowering the car, the pipework is pretty wide like the Blitz systems which also suffer from this. Two systems that I know don't touch the rear axle are the 5Zigen and Buddy Club although the BC does catch the heat shield which isn't really a problem. Both these systems have a similar diameter to the Blitz but the walls are thinner meaning there is more clearance. Those were tested with coilovers and 14's as well been seeing this for years, when I had a Nur Spec many years ago I just got used to it!

Short answer is raise it! :) It's not really a design fault at all they look good as I would imagine these are near on identical to the Nur Spec it's just the Nur Spec was originally designed with the stock ride height in mind.

as toby said the 5zigen doesnt hit it has a sharper bend going over the rear axle, my old TOM'S exhaust used to hit on the rear axle

what springs have you in the car chomper??
i have old cobra springs and shocks i just took out yesterday after putting in my coilovers..i think the springs only dropped my car by 35mm,if you want you can have them until you get coilovers!cause your car is dam low!!

cheers mate for the offer ,going to cut a spare polyuretane bushing i bought which was to big ,and cable tie it to the frame, see if that sorts out the knock ,but thanks for the offer mate ,rep coming your way, unsure of the springs ,but the car could'nt be any lower, handles very well though,i have to say

right lads i have found the problem ,the exhaust is not hitting the fuel gaurd ,but actually the bottom of the car , i have just used a piece of cardboard to space it away from the frame and it has sorted the problem temporley, what do you reckon ,i was thinking of heat wrapping this area just to stop the vibration, any ideas or suggestions,i used the bushings at the back axle and it has greatly reduced the knock ,so thanks to those who suggested it ,pics below

You could wrap the area, but it would wear through eventually.

Try and re-arange the system, or put a shorter rubber hanger on one side. At the middle.

good thinking dude ,that would probably pull it away from the frame ,i'll give it a go ,i have one more spare polyuretane bushing,so finger crossed, rep coming dude

what downpipe are you using? as majority of exhausts are made to suit the original cat downpipe, and aftermarket downpipes can varie abit so could be why the exhaust is sitting abit out of line ie the bends not quite lining up with the tunnel on the underside of the car

When i put on the buddyclub exhaust i had to get underneath and mess around for around an hour before it was all spot on.
This exhaust has flanges though so it should be easier.

If the knocking on the back axle gets to you, you could get an old exhuast rubber, wrap it in heat wrap, and then use metal cable ties to tie it to the axle, that way it shouldnt make a noise.

Just a thought!

Over the years I've seen tennis balls used to remedy this problem on all kinds of cars.. I guess so long as it doesn't burn or come loose then it should be fine to bodge something in there.

yeah my only thought was that it would burn unless wrapped in heatwrap.

On both exhausts ive had on the 2 glanzas, both times ive had to bend heatshields, and a general hour of jiggery pokery with the mountings etc.

the decat is actually made by the same company Japspeed,so should be fine,so i went out and if i can get one of the bushings slighty smaller ,it should pull it into alignement ,so going to buy some more polyuretane tomarrow and fingers crossed it will pull it enough on the one side.going to use one polyuretane and then one rubber ,so it might work,if not ,might bring to exhaust centre ,should be able to sort it very easy

ive used cable ties on the rubbers to hold the exhaust over to one side to stop knocking and stuff, did the job well

was just thinking that myself mate ,halfords were sold out of the bushings ,so i reckon a cable tie will pull it the few milimetres i needfor clearence
