At the end of the day guys, follow 3 simple rules...

1) Buy from someone with a good reputation
2) Buy from someone who likes cars (easy enough to check if you ask the right questions)
3) If it sounds too cheap, then it probably is!

Starlets are getting harder to sell at the moment due to the amount of shite being brought in by people who just want to make money. The Glanza I have for sale should have walked out the door by now, but people seem to think they know better when it comes to pricing a car... Yes, you can buy a GT or Glanza for cheap money, but ask yourself a question... Why is it cheap in the first place? It's not hard to work out why...

Good thread topic Rick.

It's a very good point to make given the 'vast amount' of GT's available in todays market. In some cases I've broken better, there's a lot of poor examples out there just waiting to cause innocent buyers heartache.

I'll be amending our buyers guide to include some help on avoiding the rubbish and potential deathtraps. Hopefully it will give the buyer an understanding of what tricks are used to sell possibly lethal JDM crashed repairables on the current UK and Irish markets.

In the meantime I hope that anyone looking for a GT will choose wisely. Where you buy from is almost as important as what you actually buy.

Cheers lads/lasses,

Jay

no offence mark, and i'm sure that glanza is very nice and the bosywork good, and i agree with what you have written.

but the fact that the glanza is 2 different shades of white may be why it's not selling.

maybe if you got the kit painted the same colour and then sold it for more money, it may sell quicker.

as i said no offence intended.

that maybe true, But atleast we know its a very high quality glanza

alot of the cars that are being sold at the moment for cheap (actually some of them are ridiculosly expensive) are utter dogs!!
i suppose what everyone is saying is that somtimes there is too much to check for and that unintentionally you may end up with a bad car

Mine will be for sale in a couple of months mate. I've finally made the decision to follow my Evo dream and get and Evo 5.

I've owned the car for the last 7 1/2 years and she really has been looked after. She is in awesome condition for a MK1, in fact you will struggle to find a better example full stop in my biased opinion LOL!!!

when are you selling fella? and how much u after?

It depends on when I've cleared a few debts and when the right Evo comeas along. I'm hoping between 2-4 months.

As far as price goes I'm really not sure yet. She is on just over 120K but she has been serviced regularly with Valvoline oil and she has been run on nothing but Vpower (Or Optimax as it used to be called) since it was released.

She has insurance friendly mods but very quick.

I'm thinking £4000 but as yet I'm really not sure.

I can testify that Ricks car is extremely well looked after, maybe worth checking Ricky..

without seeming like a complete arse toby, but not for 4k its not.

it might be in good nick but i'm not paying 4k for a mk1 gt, 3k i'll think about it.

specially as you told me earlier it wasnt worth getting a mk1 gt from the auction.

Ricky, get that and your lifelong dream of putting my duvet/pillows in the back of my car to use will come to fruition!!

If that hasn't sold it, I just don' know what will! :p

P.s. Mk1's are the coolest

Hey mate,

I just advised you not to rush, I don't even know Rick personally I just know he loves his cars. I'll leave it to you mate done as much as we can. We usually take a deposit to look for cars for customers as it takes a lot of time but we tried to help you instead and didn't take a deposit, best we could have done..

lol@ riko, sorry dude, as tempting as the offer was.

but:

1)he will be selling in 2-4 months, im all for be patient but not that patient.

2) 4k for a mk1 ????? it might be clean, but come on, i cant warrant that ammount of money on a car that old. 3k and i'll consider it (only if it comes up for sale before 2-4 months)

3) i was advised yesterday not to go for a mk1 gt, as it is old, and was also told that 111,000km was to much, and i would be better off getting a newer lower mileage one.

There's nothing wrong with one but the one you chose wasn't exactly low mileage and we don't know the history like we do with Ricks car. They also have the older interior which I don't like but that's a personal preference. You don't have to buy Ricks I just though it may be wise to check it out that's all mate :homer:

im not having a go toby, i know you havnt charged me to look for cars, i am extremely grateful for it. u advised me yesterday, and i took your advise, i trust you completely, if you told me to jump as high as i could, cos it would add 10hp to the performance of my car, i bloody would thats how much i trust you toby.

but please dont get the hump with me. that is not my intention.

i know ricks car has been cared for dearly and is in bloody good nick, but i cant justify 4k on an old car.

i have a max budget of 3.5k for a new car, or 5k for a decent modified one.

i turned down that black gt yesterday, as it was black. as you said theres no need to rush.

also you wasn't the only person that advised me not to go for a mk1 yesterday i hasten to add, i spoke to a few people, about it, and took your final thoughts on things.
