Jesus. Never realised that before.

So they drink more oil than a rotary then!

To be fair it is a great looking car and you must have a lot of envious mates Timmy. I would focus on the good points and try to see the minor hassles as part of the experience, means you would enjoy it more mate.

It just doesnt pull like i expected. :( It is a nice car and yea your right mates are bit envious! It may grow on me i hope so. cheers Jay :)

Yea can we keep this away from honda vs toyota please guys!

It seems to be using 1ltr every 3-4 weeks it is when you hit vtec it uses more oil i did get warned by honda when buying car it drinks it.

Its unusual for a K20Z to burn off that much oil in such a short period. How many miles have you covered so far?

I would say 1-1.5 ltrs within the first 1000 miles would be deemed as normal consumption, but should improve with more mileage. If your worried about it at all, then whip the plugs out and check their condition for any oily burnt black gunk.

Spark Plugs
NGK: IFR7G11KS
DENSO: SK22PR-M11S

Electrode Gap
Standard (New): 1.0−1.1 mm (0.039−0.043 in.)

Plugs are torqued to 25N.m

You should expect them to look similar to this:
(note plug design may differ)

Alternatively, if you are concerned, take the car back to the dealer and ask them if they can have a quick check to put your mind at rest.

hehehe

Let's try and keep this on topic without a Honda versus Toyota battle..

Sorry to hear you aren't enjoying yourself as much as you'd hoped mate. I never knew they drank oil TBH, how much are you feeding it?

but those honda vs toyota battles are sooooo much fun hehehe :drive:

i love my honda over my glanza though i miss having speakers!

with the mystery oil burning problem..... i used to have it in my 1.6 d16 engine.... i went through 12 litres in 2 months but that was on a high mileage engine of a 130k.

as for my new civic i have a b18 teg engine iv done just over 1500 miles and the oil level has not moved and still on full and i vtec it on a daily basis plus iv been pod and what not!

as said before, its a new engine, just let it loosen its self up a little and im sure u'll enjoy it!

hit and miss by the sound of things with oil consumption then! my friend blew up his b16 due to oil starvation, he topped it up fairly regular, but got lazy as he got used to owning it. paid the bill i'll say lol shes now running fairly sweet on a crx engine, oil usage is alot but not as bad as the previous engine.

Thats why I had my EK9 2 months and sold it.
Just no pull unless your ragging its arse :(.
On the subject of oil, None of my Hondas have ever used oil...and ive had shitloads of VTEC versions.

with the B20 swap they mate a B16B head to a B20 bottom end out of a CRV with that it should rev prety well. otherwise the B20 head is very tame in comparison for oviouse reasons

Mainly people swap K20's and B18's into EK9's with some cracking results :)

Going by what spoon said the B18 swap is the best tuning mod to do on a EK9 for more torque and power

The s2000 engine was a FC20 for the 2l and FC22 for the 2.2l but i dont think you can drop one into a EK9 and keep it FWD

with the newer K20 model civics the V-Tech crosover was smothed out and theres not so much of a kick compared to a B16b or a B18 maybe thats why your not liking the car Tim ? plus they took a back step so they could keep cost down with there stupid rear beam sus

On my EK9 i now have a spoon lower position seat rail and cusco zero 2E coilovers and it great on track but if your driving about on the roads it get very boring as you just cant drive it as it should be driven :(

i found that with stock sus on a EK9 there was a huge amount of lift off oversteer but the coilovers sorted that out and it stays planted no matter what

I know this is all random shit so ill shut up

Thats right gee man, you got it....

Although you do have to remember the extra torque with only prove to be better below Vtec point as around that time you get the cross over anyway and the torque is then converted to HP.... So really you would just have to drive the lower torque motor differently, i.e being in the right power band....

Torque isnt the speed, it just makes the car even more drivable and can get you out of sticky situations.... For track though you could do without as you will be higher up in the revs, thats why these things grip nicely while producing big HP, because the torque isnt there to rip the tires off....

Yeah so like I said mate, would be faster on the street and easier to drive to an extent as more accessible torque.

lol, no im just generalizing, "whoever doubts" which would obviously be most, naturally.

Im goinmg to be honest neil, i would sell the GT straight away to buy an EP3 and tune the honda. ANYDAY. Thats just me though...

And if i didnt have the 3SGTE in my starlet i wouldnt think twice about selling that either to fund a proper build and gearing for my EK9...... Thats how much i rate these cars.

The more i drive the more i love.

All preference though at the end of it.

no offence Dan but you have yet again turned this thread into one about your ek9 beating GT's. I am actually getting bored hearing about your EK9 now mate. Again I dont mean offence but remember you are on a toyota forum and this thread was not about your EK9 beating GT's. Personally I wouldnt have a present of a type R honda after being bitterly underwhelmed by a dc2 integra... it felt slow and vtec was pathetic in my opinion. If you think they are great thats fantastic mate but this thread is about Timmy and his new CTR so lets keep the tales of beating GTs in an EK9 to yourself because its not assisting Timmy in any way and feels like you are looking for a reaction from members.

Sorry GV1.3 i know my post was random as i know why tim does not like it as im going thro the same thing i do find that owning a VTech car is very boring in comparison to a Starlet

they seem to have a massive lack in torque but there is some there but it's nothing like a starlet. Thats why when i swapped over to my EK9 i found it is crap, even on track with my freind and his Starlet i was nowhere near passing him at all just had more top end power, i kept up with him fine his car was std power also

Hey Mikey mate sorry about the mistake with your post I just saw something about swapping engines into EK9s... and was removing a lot of off topic stuff.

Personally I think Timmy should stick with his new CTR. They are a really nice car and as a daily driver will be a good mix of fun and comfort so he is a lucky lad! I think he should maybe even consider getting a damaged GT as a project to do up over the winter. Get it cheap do it up and by summer next year he will have best of all worlds.

The reality is he will lose too much now on the CTR if he tries to shift it and having a brand new honda sitting on his drive he should be smiling not frowning!
