I am hoping the TGTT meet is a good one, will gauge the interest and hopefully it will be positive, If so I will invest more time into the Forum and parts for these cars, although I am abit sceptical after getting custom made Starlet Fuel rails made up and having nobody buy them.... Puts me off big time! :haha:

welcome to starlets mate,

90% owners are just dreamers.

i regret ever selling mine, for all the problems and aggravation, the good times far outweighed the bad times, i only sold so i could save up for a house, but that was a bad idea giving the current climate and trends :(

I think the starlets are suffering as a result of being such a good car. They are so reliable compared to other cars and so easy to get good power from that they attracted alot of the 'fly by nights'. Many people got them and either only kept them till they could afford to get something bigger or until they wrecked them and ended up having to break them. They never researched them that much before they bought them and were only interested in how they could get more power as quickly and as cheaply as possibly which is not how you should ever go about doing anything. I was on this forum for about 8 or 9 months before I bought my GT in October 2002 and the day I hit black ice and wrote off my GT was genuinely one of the worst days of my life but it never entered into my head to leave the starlet scene, I just asked my mate to bring me a Glanza in from Japan. I spent the next 2 years driving her and loved every minute and when I lost my job in 2008 I sold alot of the parts off her but never sold the car, I always knew I would eventually get her running again and here I am, almost 4 years later and she is almost ready for the road again, not to the spec I would like her to be admittedly but that will come eventually.

Ive just sold the ep95 and can easily say i'll never have another starlet. After being out of them for a year (200sx then waiting on the 95 coming over) getting back in one was terrible. Maybe im just getting too old, or just want abit of luxury now but i couldnt hack it anymore :haha:

You are officially old now mate. Did the car go to the guy from Germany ?

I have been out of the starlet scene for a few years but like to come on here now and again and always seem to find myself browsing the for sale section....

A lot of good comments on this thread. Common thought that I agree with is I reckon a lot of the old timers are simply bored of answering the same questions from the newbies who don't search first. Anybody know the stats about how many gts/glanzas now registered /still on the road in UK ?

Don't give up on the starbos guys cos like I said I have been away a while but still miss mine.

Just like to state that this must be a big fucking hill if the site still rolling down the side of it lol..

The only problem with the members garage is if someone updates or posts in there, it doesn't show up when you click the New Posts button, which is the only button use on here.

Be bold, try something new lol. There is not that many new posts go up in the garage, if you click on the garage tab then on the 1st option that appears, members garage then the whats new tab comes up. Yo can see new posts or new cars for a certain time period or from when you were last on. Personally I think not having part of the new posts keeps it relatively clean, if it was to appear with the new forum posts then there might be a lot of posts go on build threads that become technical discussions and thats not the place for it IMO.

If anything, the slow down in site traffic can be viewed as a positive (sorry Dylan!)... If people aren't posting 'silly' questions, then it means that they've either blown up (more parts available) or sold on. That, leaves the die-hards, the ones that, when you cut them in half, have 'Starlet' engrained in them like a piece of Brighton rock or a cross-section from a tree. The recent thread regarding old-timers proves this, as even though they don't post, they're all still here, lurking in the shadows...

As for the reason, it's undoubtedly the economy. Whilst it might not affect your own pocket (until you get called in to the office and given a nice redundancy letter), the poor UK economy vs. the devastated Japanese one has left the exchange rate in array. The less cars that come over, the less excitement there is, and with significant exporters simply closing the doors, tuners such as JAM Racing going to ground, and large players like Apexi struggling, it's inevitable that things will slow down, and people, having lost the buzz, will look elsewhere. Even I'm guilty, I haven't imported a car for ages, and have effectively left my site floating without even updating it. I've even bought a new car for some weekend fun, and it's not even Japanese!

That said, there will be a day when I have another, weekend Starlet warrior in the garage... Question is, which vintage?

it's quite true the garage is quite on the side of the forum. when I update my page, I always ask myself "will someone actualy check it?"

hi
im a relativly new member but of all the starlet sites around this is by far the best. BUT and yeah its a big but...... although all the moderators and members in general are really helpful and knowlegable with any querys and questions people may have (sorry if i ask many previous covered topics lol) but i feel a lot of the site feels really detached from other parts that are regularly visited (i seem to spend my life in Modification/ Technical Questions, if only there was some way to bring it all back more together.
from the sounds of things the previous layout was more like this ?

also as a newish member id love to see more people adding to the garage i wouldnt mind adding my build as i add new parts nearly every week and plus new members have the excitment that should be welcomed dont you think ? when you look in the garage through the eyes of a new member you do feel a little intimadated by some of the cars in there but why does it have to be that way why couldnt everyone add there starlet use it for inspiration, update there build regualar, wouldnt it be a far more interesting and versatile forum (well at least the garage would be !)

i understand that paid members have to get extras but i think "opening the garage" (excuse the pun couldnt resist)may really help with the lack of posts of late ?
