What variant of the td06 is it? What has it had to make it a hybrid? If its got a nice small exhaust housing and wheel then it may be a monster turbo.... You need the full part no to really know if its gonna be any good.

when people say td05 i presume there talking the subaru unit, as it td04L, td05H 16g

dane your turbo is much more reponsive than the subaru used td05:D

x2.

Take a chill pill guys.

If someone asked about TD04, we also automatically think WRX.

Yeah a 14g will be far more appropriate. With any turbo we need to know AR's and compressor maps, trim spec on both inducer, major and exducer it all tells a different story. If you read about our turbo in the bargain section you will see what it takes, Steve is bang on the money. Ours has a huge compressor but comparatively small turbine side meaning it doesn't take a lot of gases to spin (1300cc - 1500cc don't produce a lot gases when comparing a 2000cc), again a lot of variables with expulsion of gases pending manifold design, head characteristics etc etc

You could then take the same turbo, wack on a huge exhaust housing like the .87 AR and bang lag monster...

waaa lol.. why is it when ppl say td05 they think lag?!

as toby & dane said very well there are too many td05 variants to compare to say "the td05 is really laggy" thats a comment which personally comes out of somebody's ass... if its a td05 off a wrx then yes it prob is laggy, but when u think of lag think of it this way... as long as when u change gears u dont lose boost, ie u stay in the turbo's powerband.. then my friends u dont have lag :) .. a friend of mine will be trying a greddy td06h-25g (which is currently on a rex) on his ep82 with a 1331cc engine.. hes thinking that it still should give a good powerband down the qtm.. & i say why not.. his current turbo is just as big & gives full boost by 5200rpms..

i thought my td05 was big but this turbo puts my 18g to shame lol... it all depeneds on the application ur after, if its drag then why not just try the td06 :)

just out of curiousity, uv said u wanna try a td06.. but which td06 is it? is it a greddy, mhi or ihi unit?

look in hyper evs.

the high power drag cars used the td06 but only on the 5e engine, and were running 4-450 ps.

others on there use i think it was vf 28 or something cant remember off the top of my head.

but everyone in there that had a 1300 they tended to use k24 sized turbo's.

so td06 for drag imo and not street or track use and dont use it on the 4e only the 5e.

speak to starletrick for info as he used a td06 on his glanza

Greddy TD05 is the bizness, 4e or 5e, doesn't matter
i would easily put a greddy TD06 on my high comp 5e, if i could afford it

Rick said he would not use the car on circuit because it lagged too much and that was on a 5E.

bloody hell! TD06 ios normally used on 2000cc engines to get alot of HP... On a 1,3 i cannot even imagine! Drivability i would of thought would be soo soo terrible.

Would be interesting to see on a drag associated car though.

Why do people keep on insisting that the TD05 spools up at 5k ????

My Greddy TD05 is spooling up almost identical to the K24/K26 Hybrid i had on before.

At 1.4 bar it was spooling faster than the Hybrid Turbo i had on there before.

Its going to spool even faster again once my engine comes back as the Ported and polished head will help along with the 4.1KG Flywheel that will be on it.

This mis conception of a TD05 being a laggy turbo is crap ! With the correct TD05 such as some of the Greddy Units you can really experience a great response with absolute minimal lagg.

The 1 i have spins at 5k

o yea but yours is a greedy 1 with work done to it.
Most TD05 are old and are just standard units :)

it depends what your calling full boost on a tdo516g your get a bar about 4800-5000 but wont get 1.7 till bout 5300-5500

By any means, full boost at 5k even if it is 1bar is laggy as hell, that would do my head in on daily commutes.

td05's are laggy even the greddy units, anything other than full boost by 3.5k is laggy. But at least with a forged engine a td05 you can hold in the power band.
td06 would be a full blow drag turbo on a 1.3, i would recommend building it to rev to 10k+ or you'll no doubt drop off the turbo between every gear change.
