The most overrated cars of all time?

I've driven an Integra type R eg sir II an ef sir II great handling cars but what is all the hype about I used to listen to guys I worked with telling me about how great there cars were and how fast they were and they beat this car in a race and that car in a race and to quote these guys they were telling me they were reaching speeds of 160 mph I just couldnt see how to be honest in fairness it wouldnt be hard to out handle a Glanza or Gt as toyota didnt really put much effort into the chassis when they were designing them ie independent suspension all around would have been nice like the honda's

P.S I am not trying to turn this thread into a Toyota v Honda battle either

the integra type R (dc2), whilst a very good car, is exactly what this thread is about - overrated. I dont want to disrespect that car at all but I had heard people say things like "the best handling front wheel drive car" etc and when I drove one I was expecting a lot and it did not really deliver. Dont get me wrong it was a nice car and would have pissed on my Glanza but it wasnt this rocket everyone had told me about.

And lets clarify - just because a car might be overrated in your eyes that does not mean you think its a shit car it just means you think it maybe gets talked up a little more than it can deliver.

In Ireland it used to be the Glanza... thankfully a lot of the idiots that owned them can no longer get insurance on them or have written them off. Just about every lad I ever spoke to that was not a member on here told me tales of their "Gal-an-zit" running 200bhp... you asked them what mods it had and they would say "I dunno"... ask them where they had it dyno'd "I never had it dyno'd". No wonder EP's got such a bad name in Ireland.

This is very true the Glanza and Gt turbo have a very bad reputation in Ireland one for the people that dont insure them properly and two for the guys that go around thinking there running more power than they actually have because they have an air filter exhaust and dumpvalve

I used to love all the young lads coming up to me asking me : Has your Glanza got a Dumpvalve?

yeah thats a good one mate, i cant stand beetle, or camper vans for that matter, got a mate who wanks over them lol and im just like have a word with your self, its a clapped out old banger thats going to break down!! lol

No the best one is when you reply to how fast is your car by saying it can only do 112mph as it's limited and them replying by saying jeese my mams fiesta can go faster than that

Auto supra is faster than the manual with a pro driver in it -) what's wrong with that??? Not to mention the Brakes on Supra are amazing! I'd say a really good car, difficult to drive though and decorative rear sits even though a massive car!

Interesting some of the other cars mentioned in this thread. I would agree with the honda stuff. They are good cars, no doubt about that, but many people talk them up a bit too much. That whole vtec thing is funny... when I drove my first vtec engine I was expecting it to be like a kick in the arse but it was more like a roar in the ear.

Id like to drop the mitsi FTO in there also... used to be lots of them doing the rounds in Ireland a few years ago and people who owned them used to talk them up a lot. I drove one and was so disappointed.

I tend to agree with you! Apart from Glanza -) what do you think a GOOD car and good value for money car to get??? Obviously talking about speed and handling wise!

most overrated i think is a vw golf "gt" tdi. One of the lads came up to me eat you off the road bla bla and so on. First of all no such thing as a gt tdi golf. It was a badge the dealers put on to sell them. Second both cars have 130std and my car is lighter and its not standard. I seen someone look for 5k for a 2000 golf with a 100k miles on it. Wtf like?
