The most overrated cars of all time?

I tend to agree with you! Apart from Glanza -) what do you think a GOOD car and good value for money car to get??? Obviously talking about speed and handling wise!

huge amount of them out there mate, I am all about going out and trying them for yourself and finding something that suits your driving style. Personally I love turbocharged cars. Right now I wouldnt consider an N/A car. Although I am driving a new maxima at the moment and WOW can that thing move! Whatever technology they use in that engine when it hits 5000rpm forget about vtec it turns in to an animal. The sequential shift in it is vicious, flat shift through all gears and it changes in an instant, love it.

AE86. Good engine, crap body. Its purely a fashion thing that they are worth so much. A Mk1 MR2 is a much better car and will easily out perform them round a track.
EP82's People rave on about them but everyone knows that Glanza's are better!!!

Bit different to all of the above, but for me - Landrover defender 90. Biggest piece of sh1t ive ever owned. Always broke down, although cheap to fix it spent more time in the barn than in the fields and got stuck in almost every occasion. Best offroaders ive had are the little suzuki SJ413 and a land cruiser. Both could get you out of practically any situation with no chassis or suspension modification needed.

As above though, I drove an FTO last year and it was a massive let down.

Your obviously missing the point of this thread!
Im guessing your taking offence to the whole vtec thing. Nobody is saying there a bad car, just there overrated! And if you lived in Ireland you would probably be agreeing.

No not neccesarily the vtec thing. On the first page I saw ek9, skyline, and supra which are all epic cars in there own right in no way are cars like those overrated. As for pulsar, there not overrated either, who ever said they were amazing cars with amazing reviews? No-one.

x2

not saying there a bad car or anything (dont want another honda v toyota thing) but here in Ireland Type R's and pretty much all vtecs are seriously hyped up!! all i ever heard was how quick they were and when a friend bought a type r civic I couldnt wait for a spin!
Was very very disappointed!! waiting for something to happen and all there was was a bit of noise!
He asked me how it compared to the Glanza and not wanting to insult his new car I said it was about the same power wise, but it really wasnt!

oh and agree with gtst skylines, felt very slow!

i agree i couldnt wait for a spin in my mates dc2 integra. i was very disapointed. yes it was quick but didnt put a smile on my face as the starlet does on full tilt

alot of cars seem to look over rated when comparing them to a starlet, (speed wise anyway) im running 200bhp and it is very rare to come up against something quicker like focus st for example, 2.5 turbo thats slower than a 1.3 turbo

i had an integra 1.8 si vtec 180bhp, it handled well but was all noise and no go, on the plus side though it made my starlet feel very very quick

I hired a Dodge Journey and it was bloody awful! Not sure if they're 'overrated' but i imagine it's a pretty popular car in the states. The engine was gutless and had to floor the arse off it to get it anywhere. Great sound system though

dont think I have come across the journey before but I have hired a challenger, charger, tahoe, hhr, impala and malibu and they are all identical. Big lumpy things with crap handling and huge engines that dont go anywhere. The interior is the same in each one of them.

The only one that was half decent out of them was the V8 Tahoe... its a beast and feels like it could pull down houses but the rest I would give a 1 out of 10 (maybe a 3 for the challenger because it looks retro). Sound system in them all is the same and as you said is pretty good

Here is the last challenger I had

And one of the chargers

I don't know how they are rated in the UK but no offence but they are HIGHLY over-rated in the Republic of Ireland. If you heard some of the verbal diarrhea ive heard some Honda owners spew about their cars is unbelievable. You'd cry if you weren't so busy laughing at them.
