Any txt messages that I get with all that iz, coz, wens , tiz and the like are replied back with a message of complete bollocks.

When they see me they go, why did you send me that message?

My reply, If you're going to send me bollocks I might as well pay the compliment back!

I hate it, dont understand it and wish the fuckers would just talk English!

Yup, I absolutely hate text speak too. Never even use it in text messages or MSN or anything like that. Also hate bad grammar and people that don't use commas or full stops! Maybe I'm a bit fussy :p

There is text talk and there is just poor English. The combination of both, for me is unreadable. Especially when there is a whole paragraph of it, I don't even bother reading it; it's a proper put-off.

Just finished writing my dissertation, so it's easy for me to say that. However, you got to understand that English is not some people's first language and it may not be as good as yours. Some people may also have difficulties with forming sentences.

must admit, i do get a bit lazy sometimes and dont bother with capitals and apostrophes. like now and on msn :p

its also probably a good idea to proof read what you write before posting. i know its not a piece of academic work, but just makes it easier for everyone to read without spelling/grammer mistakes.

could just use a word processor and check for mistakes especially if you write a lot :)

I'll take heat for this...maybe I'm getting old, but when I see bad grammar, spelling and posts that looks like the member never used a vowel in their lives, I start to think there is a generation of imbeciles on the heels of my own. I was particularly shocked at how uneducated U.K youths seem to be in based solely on this. Some members took the time to form meaningful grammatically correct posts, others couldn't be bothered. Try using that shit in the business world and see how far you'll get (at least over here). After all the applications I have received in the short time I have been running a branch, I'll tell you now...if proper English, spoken and written, are not what you practice...it shows glaringly at times when you need it most. If you ween yourself on that rubbish to the point where it's hard to stop, you are lowering your intellect to fit in with the masses and are doing yourself a grave disservice.

It is quiet annoying however I usually understand whats being written and translate for others! Some of my mates text in 'txt lang' and I don't understand a damn word of it so don't reply.

you can get spell check from google now so even the worst of offenders can use the spell check and sort it out!... allot of forums now have a system in place that automatically replaces 'slang' and 'txt' speak. like if it see's the word 'coz' it will change it to because, shortened words like 'fmic' to front mount intercooler.

perhaps something like this should be implemented as you cant stop people using 'txt' speak as it's almost part or teenage and younge culture nowadays :(

Personally, as an educated human being, I won't lower myself to use text lingo (even on a mobile), and give up on PM's, emails and threads where it's used. My own opinion, is that if you can't read, write or spell English properly, then you're not worth my time! :p

depands what nationality are you! im maltese and you cant expect me to write or spell english perfectly! we learn english at school by force.. but im not 100% there :p

Even so your efforts are far, far better than many who should know better. In Barbados, if left alone we speak a type of broken English, call it Bajan dialect. This is the reason why if you listen to native islanders (Barbados, Jamaica etc.) talk to each other, although it's meant to be English, you won't understand a thing that's being said...kinda like the pikey Brad Pitt plays on Snatch. We are also drilled into using the "Queen's English" from primary school, so by listening to how a Bajan speaks, you can tell who have taken their schooling seriously and who hasn't. Most of the times, we spell words the same way we speak them, so it shows in the written words also. It's something you can't easily fake, but mastering proper communications skill in any language gives you an edge when trying to better yourself in our society.
