I think its just easier to believe theres an after life.
It'd be great if there was, personally i think its like when you get knocked out..no sense of time :)

I only found out the forbidden fruit was a metaphor for sex the other day lol

Holy fuck, that's disgusting. I'll never look at an apple the same way again!

you mean Energy cannot be created or destroyed and for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction

There's your 'dark matter' theory right there lol.

When a flame goes out, it is gone. You may see an afterglow and some curling wisps of smoke but it's pretty damn dead. Probably wrong to look at life like that but I see no reason to assume otherwise.

Or stoned :haha: Does it really matter what happens to us when we are dead not if we can stop it.

haha, yeah but the "matter" you burnt released energy and tho you think its gone cause u cant see it,its just gone somewhere else!haha

Ah good old Isaac!

I believe in Creation, that man and woman were created bu God.

I think that science can make anything seem logical. But the same goes for the belief in something that isnt there.

There are plenty of topics that science cannot explain of which is spoken in a Holy Book(s), one of which is the crack in the moon. Scientist even look to Holy Book(s) for sources of information.

Reminds me of the topic where Gryzor (who else!!) mentioned about the 'Teapot Cult'.

But back to the question, i mostly believe in Creation because of Who i am and my beliefs. Darwin did say in his book titled, 'Origin Of Species',

"probably all the organic beings which have ever lived on this earth have descended from one primordial form, into which life was first breathed"

This could easily indicate that these 'form'(s) were actually Adam and Eve and it also states in the Holy Book,

"O people: Fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate, and spread forth from them many men and women" (Qur'an 4:1).

Dont get me wrong, the whole evolution does seem like it makes sense but its obvious to say that my belief overlooks it and some would say that im blind to it, but thats me :).

Also when it is said that we evolved from primates to homo sapiens, i remember being told that its not true as it has been told that a tribe were metamorphosised into apes as punishment hence the similarites. A quick search reveals a passage from the Holy Book relating to what i was told.

"When they were too arrogant to what they had been forbidden, We said to them, 'Be you apes, humiliated'" (Qur'an 7:166).

This is just me giving my opinion into to what i think about Darwinism, i am very open mind and love watching the Discovery Channels as much as everyone else :D

i personally believe in evolution, but do believe that "god" himself did exist.

but instead of being some all mighty human being, he was a guy that was very kind and looked out for everybody, for all his stories i think are sort of chinese whisper in a way, i think he was almost a bear grylls type of fella that knew how to live in the open, and had a good idea for everything.

People idolised him as sort of a modern day david beckham, and wrote his stories into a book which were over exaggerated.

its almost like "hey my dad can lift a bus, hes so big and strong"

it may feel like it at the time but the reality is far from it.

he was to me a famous leader at the time and had many followers who believed in him, but i dont believe he would of had these magic powers as such.

all the stories in the bible say he came down to earth and kept his human form without the powers, but surely that is just there interpritation?

It's neither. It's magic.

x2 lol

On a serious note, i beleive in evolution.

Animals are evolving all the time over many thousands of years depending on habitat, we have proof of this.

facts for me, although id like to beleive we go somewhere when we pass.

why doesn't it add up, we share something like 99% of our dna with them i think

well if we are apes why are they still apes and not human why have they not gone through the same processes that we went through

its not like there catching up or anything there is a big difference all dna is pretty close just apes are the closest

from what i saw on tv it only takes one ape too change his mating pattern an partner an it changes the basic dna structure which causes abnormal babys, that could be a reason.n over time it created humans.

i cant see the theory of creation, in my opinion it just dont make any sense.

each too there own beleifs tho

We have no knowledge of the solar system?

Mitch

I think they know enough about our solar system & not enough about our galaxy & never will as there is 100billion stars in it, they just do not know what caused the big bang, lots of theories.

Religion im sure was a good idea at the time, but now its just out of control, causes more death & war than anything.

I personally believe in evolution.
Could 'god' be an alien? something iv always thought about.
apparently in the 1940's an american fighter pilot crash landed in a brazilian rainforest and a native tribe witnessed the crash landing and went to investigate. subsequently they came to the conclusion the pilot was some kind of 'god' and formed a religion about him. apparantly they praise his cigerrette lighter, knife, bits of broclen aeroplane etc....................makes you wonder?

This has happened more than once chances are they have never seen a plain before and they thought they were the only people on earth.

Anyone know where I can get an Alien that can turn water into wine/beer/cider, and some scrap metal into gold?

exactly, only takes a few, if some apes left jungles all those yers ago and ended up somewhere like the plains of africa where there weren't many trees they wouldn't need the tails or the feet like hands for climbing would they? so these traits would disappear, also moving from a colder climate to a much warmer one would cancel out the need for hair all over wouldn't it? so that trait would disappear, all these tiny changes to our environment add up, eventually leading to what you see today. also these changes take so long we wouldn't even notice if they were catching up

I belive in darwin's evolution theory.

Why,

a.) because it makes more sense than the fucking world being created in 7 days
b.) because its backed up by scientific reasoning
c.) because id rather belive that we came from somewhere & have inherited the earth though sheer struggle of adaptation ie evolution rather than having been dumped on the earth by some god who had nothing better to amuse himself with.

we know how many planets there are and that we revlove around the sun, and how many moons etc but thats like saying i know whats in my back yard because i can see it. i think if knowledge of the universe was a liquid that could be poured into a jug, we wouldn't have more than the tiniest spec of moisture!

Im refering to the likes of 1000/2000 odd years ago, where ancient society's had more knowledge of the solar system than we did 300 years ago...

How the FUCK were the pyramids built?

i think we would struggle to build them in the time frame in which they were said to of been built today-with modern technology.

Many people have mentioned conciousness and what happens after our physical body 'dies'.
look up;

DMT(Dimethyltryptamine)

Pineal gland

Try this. Lucid dreaming-so long as you dont feel like a twat doing it.
Everytime you walk through a door-way, touch the door frame and say out loud 'am i dreaming?'. Repeat this all day. But you really have to mean it. Think about it hard when you say 'am i dreaming'. Eventually you will have a lucid dream-where you really do question yourself... 'oh shit?! am i dreaming?'

About conciousness, i also believe that nothing exists without conciousness. ~
Quantum physics-The measurement problem. An electron only exists in one place when someone observes it. When it is un-observed it is not in only one place. Thus the very observation of the electron would effect another.

An atom is 99.999999% (you get it) nothing? everything is made of atoms right... so everything is 99.999999% nothing. Also note that the further you down in the scale from cellular,molecular,atomic,subatomic... the diversity at the base of the scale is extraordinary as each scale above it can be derived. What is at planck level? i believe its conciousness itself.
Superstring theory? Unified field?
