OKAY MY MATES NEGATIVES:

1. Have to rev the tits off it to get it going
2. Expensive to modify
3. Hard to extract power out of as from the factory already highly tuned.
4. Rear calipers tend to need refurbs.
5. Unless driven to the redline the vtec will drop off when changing gear.

POSITIVES:

1. Rare
2. Pure porn
3. Everyone loves V-TEC
4. A host of aftermarket parts
5. Handles so so nice
6. Good on fuel
7. Reliable

Hope that helps and now everyone may stop moaning

get your butt on an ek9 forum they are top fellas on there and will be happy to help regardless of the make model, year , colour, reg of your car

thanks dude

well the ITR did not handle as well as I had been told, threw it in to a roundabout the way I would my Glanza and it went sideways. My girlfriends 7th Gen Celica would chew it to pieces without a shadow of a doubt.

The car felt totally gutless from a standstill and the power delivery is loud but doesnt feel anything impressive to me at all. It doesnt have the pull of my glanza which is what I love about my Glanza. It didnt have the gokart feel. And people say "N/A is a different type of power" I am driving an N/A maxima at the moment and when you floor it it will snap your head back so N/A can be neck snapping in certain cars... in the honda it was not. As I compared the celica and ITR above I would also say the celica is far from neck snapping but I thought it was more modern inside and certainly has more of the feeling you are driving something "sporty".

PRO Points:
-look better than any other civic imo
-reliable
-Will take abuse
-Nice interior

I would advise going to test drive a couple and get a feel for them. I think my major issue with these cars is that I heard a lot of owners rave about the ITR SO MUCH and when I drove one it was a let down, perhaps dont listen to the hype and let the car be hyped up too much. Much like EP's if you listened to some people you would expect them to feel like a lambo when you drive one and they simply are not so have your expectations straight before test driving.

DISCLAIMER: The above is my experience, if you have a different experience that is your business. Before anyone jumps in saying "the ITR must not have been running right" it was and was just about to be sold to a dude who had fully inspected it and was happy with it. I am not a honda hater there are certain models of honda that I like.

nice bro, good feedback, rep added. Yeh wat I worry the most about is it having no bollocks in low down revs. Its really a decision between the 200 and the ek9 4 me. If I know the petrol costs wont b a problem when at my dads; I'll def consider buyin one.

Put the the teg engine in the ek9, strip out all unecessary parts, put manifold, exhaust, racing lightened flywheel and you have an extremly competative car for road and track. And you want need to rev the tits off of it as you get 130bhp before vtec has even kicked in, and car weighing 1 tonne it's nice and powerful from the minute go. And to give you an idea, I hit 13.7 down the quarter mile @101mph so a very quick responsive car.

Stock form you may get bored. Still very fun to drive IMO. I'm selling mine very soon unforunatly. But if I could afford to have it and tune my starlet I 100% would. I'm selling it to buy a cheaper car, possibly s14.

I have been from a Starlet to an EK9

I love it cant fault the car at all, I’m selling mine at the mo as I need the money for bigger things like a house etc.

As for revving the car allot to make it go fast, That’s what there made to do  mine has done allot of track days now and has never missed a beat, it don’t use any oil, its good on fuel (30+ MPG)

The only downside to them is the insurance group they are in (group 20) I’m 22 and pay £1700 fully comp with roadside recovery and European cover.

High miles on one don’t really matter as long as it been looked after well, ESP Gearbox oil changes they must be done regularly to keep the LSD from wearing out also they have a habit of wearing out syncros like starlets, and some you may find hard to get into reverse but you learn to live with it

Std sus is very good on the car, But I found it to have to much lift off oversteer for the roads, could get into some danger, so I changed them for coilovers and that took it away and made it handle even better :).

In most ways it has been better than the starlet but as most say it does lack a little torque low down but that’s why you need to rev it,

If you want to look at mine (if its not sold by then) I can take you out in it for a drive see what you think

Sorry if my spelling is crap

I forgot to say, reliability is second to none. If. Were you I'd try it out. They don't loose value so if not your thing sell it. It was a car I've always wanted to own and I'm very glad I did. Needed to get it out my system.

Test drive an EK9 and let it speak for itself.

I went from a 275hp Glanza to an EK9 and don't regret and won't be coming back.

I won't go on in this thread about all the positives vs negatives..PM me if you want. One thing I will say though is this.

I spent hundreds if not thousands on chassis/suspension modifications alone and had a fast road geometry setup on my Glanza.

My EK9 handles far better and the only suspension mods it had when I bought it was coilovers.

I don't understand how people can not say the EK9/DC2 are great handeling FF cars. Many reviews from owners and magazine reviews will tell you otherwise.

I still love Starlets and I am in no way trying to suggest they are rubbish cars, but the EK9 IMO is better in almost every way.
