I really feel for the guys in the uk. In the wet the other night I was spinning though 4th. Must suck to have that weather most days:(

On the circuit the fwd guys usually detune to somewhere around 200-250hp at the wheels to help traction and hill climbs usually around 220hp atw. Theres a fwd crx here with a 2l NA with 170hp atw that is currently the fastest fwd around our circuit but it is setup and driven by a pro driver from japan.

yeh exactly the weather here is so poop :(

nice to hear the info/opinion on the detune.

Contrary to popular belief it does not rain every day in England or in the rest of the UK for that matter. I live in the South where we get much less rain than say the lake district which is the wettest region. The UK is an island and the surrounding sea gives England a varied climate. There are plenty of days where it doesn't rain otherwise I would have a 4x4! I spend my summer here in Bournemouth:

Where am I going with this? :p

i know where did all this it's wet over here all the time stuff come from.
Typical british summer in the southeast anyway tends to go dry and hot and a water hose ban.

They then released the Exige S, with a supercharger rather than a turbo charger. The reason they chose a supercharger is because it gives good gains across the range but doesn't change the characteristics of the standard 1.8 Toyota engine.

no mate they chose a supercharger becuase the supercharged 1.8 is readily available unit from toyota and used in existing cars, nothing to do with power delivery. More to do with the fact they already have a deal with toyota to use there engines.

Sorry but you're wrong, it's supercharged for a reason. Lotus could have done anything with the engine. Hence why they run their own ECU's.

The Toyota Corolla T-Sport which has the supercharged 2ZZ-GE is actually a different set up to the exige.

Like I said the delivery of a supercharger allows power across the range, this meant there were no disruptions to an already great handling car!

Very interested.

I have this difference between my GTxx and GTti now, but I haven't driven either hard enough for a comparison.

i love this thread!

I have to say rikkos and tobys points have my 100% backing...... You'd be surprised just how fast ive taken bends in my car...

Your feet/hands are what makes the car happen.... not the car itself.

exactly, but it seems that luke doesnt know that, or isnt very capable at driving.. hence the exige... :p

every power (withing certian conditions) can be acceptable..

my friend has a 11.5ET starlet running A BIG ASS TURBO.. but thanks to his ecu & a very good tune by Mr. Monti Bugeja his turbo gets spool & full boost by under 4000rpms..(untuned this turbo gives 6 psi at 6000rpms lol) this is not just down the qtm, if he bothered getting decent handling mods im 100% certian that he could really do alot in sprint events, however hes not bothered lol.. but iv seen him drive in certian places which id say was certian death, but apparently it does come down to how good u are ;)

no im not saying ur gonna try doing the above on a stock sus setup lol... we all know what boats ep's are as stock ;)

You have to be kidding, right?

If my xx didn't have a torsen differential it'd be very hard to keep it on the road. The way it pulls you out of a corner is not something a guy can make happen with his hands.

no but the way u attack the corner makes the difference ;)

Which depends on the car, and where the torque is delivered, how the torque is transfered to the road.

You can attack a corner as fast as you like, but as far as I'm concerned the smoother the better, the more traction, more control, you should be attacking out of the corner more than anything.

He must have a lot of lean burn mapping in to get it to spool by 4k rpm. But on a race engine it doesnt matter that much if it goes pop.
