there are no angles left, all were eliminated attempted to prove the point already known....that the clutches do not work
Exedy are no match for similarly specced clutches from other proven manufacturers
if the disc worked fine in one setup and the cover in another i honestly dont know. maybe someone else could shed light on it.
maybe could have been that the presure plate was stiff and hydrolic system was not bled correctly? just a guess...
when we did nexias one with a trd unit couldnt put in gears then we adjusted clutch cable and was fine... only in highrevs he cannot selelct i think 3rd.
not hard to bleed a clutch mate, and myself and trevor fitted it twice, still hard to get in gear, once with cap release bearing, once with std toyota one. i adjusted the cable too.
i kno mate it was just a maybe?
well so you have to be lucky to get a good cap clutch i guess :S
well those are very strong statements to make-----becareful
to be honest...its hard to say the clutches dont work....when it seems like the others in this said post who use this same clutch have had no problems---several of them using them for a while ---gt dan, jezza, sheldon, glanza dan, knightsy-ep91, danturbo4311, montanajr, gt-td04.....some say a little judder and then the cltuch settled....and they seem happy ever since
your client being the only person in this tread who had issues with the 2 clutches provided......and this is in perspective of this tread
well...i honestly hope u get it sorted out from the client's sake--- who seems to have been without a car for a while
Be careful of what, accurately describing what is a crap clutch much like other exedy's. Strong statements are only made on experience of this
Update.........Helix paddle clutch fitted this evening as guess what, it works:rockon:
The quality of the Helix clutch makes the Cap clutch look pathetic in all honesty
To be honest i expected a typical 'forum' response of 'well mine is ok' and an objection to technical knowledge stating the faults with these clutches. Respect is due to the last few people who have stood up and admitted problems with the clutches. I hope this proves something to the non believers.......
So now after pretty conclusive evidence all thats left is for Speedvision to arrange what happens now
To be honest i expected a typical 'forum' response of 'well mine is ok' and an objection to technical knowledge stating the faults with these clutches.
just a little update, having changed absolutely nothing on the car since the second cap clutch was removed again, today a brand new helix paddle clutch went in.
I went for the helix because a few people i know run them and have never had any troubles, they were also very helpfull when i spoke to them.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, the helix went in this evening, fired her up not too long ago and the helix clutch works fine? slips into all gears fine without any of the horrid crunching i was getting from the cap clutches.
Now someone please correct me if i'm worng but surely this means that both the cap clutches i received were faulty, what more evidence do you need?!?
My friends got a load of pictures of the new helix going in and some comparisons, they'll probably be up tomorrow now as it's getting on, but even for a layman like myself, i'm sorry to say comparing the two makes of clutches they seem a world apart in build qualilty.
I'm ecstatic I now have a car i can go about getting taxed, mot'd and back on the road again, it's only been the best part of five months now? and hopefully speedvision will be somewhat more forethcoming in offering me atleast a refund for the bad cap clutch.
just to clarify, the flywheel was sorted for the second cap clutch but it still didn't work, just glad the new helix one does
one thing i can see different from most of the users over here is that we got the clutch directly from CAP and you got it from speedvision.
once there was a guy who got a CAP clutch from sam and then he wanted a refund cos he found it was cheaper from CAP but sam told him that the ones sam sells are made specificly for him! and as we all know the clutches from CAP are for the MR2...
thats the only difference i can see...
ted.. where you got yours from?
sheldon
clutches ordered thru me are shipped directly from cap to the customer..
yes my price is higher if you go thru me rather than cap.
