a mate of mine had a 2 litre turbo astra still registered as a 1.4
he crashed it on the motorway and made a real mess of it. the assessor came out to have a look at the car and didnt know the first thing about cars, they saw the intercooler on the front and said thats a big radiator are you sure thats standard failed to see the radiator behind it... oh dear lol.
can garentee though that 90% of people wont be this lucky, however i believe your safer not declaring performance mods than you are visual because alot of assessors dont know about cars so for all they know what engine mods you have could be standard, yet these chavs that go around with big bodykits and have a crash the assessor will come out and bend them over because its easily seen. Not only that how many assessors would have been out to look at a Starlet turbo before?
