***Closing the Classifieds Section***

im sorry but if the classifieds section gets closed then most people wont even come on here

they come to look for parts

sounds like a really bad idea closing it

I disagree.. the classifieds section is busy but is far from the busiest part of the site. If it continues causing the issues it is causing we will not hesitate in closing it down. Our traders section generates a huge amount of traffic and offers a huge amount of parts.

I also look there and have bought many parts cole but the quality of sellers is dropping.

It would be good if the section could stay but dodgy sellers are destroying it.

i don't have the post count but have been a member for a while, just dont post to much and don't want to woffle on about crap or post crap responses that dont help... so getting 300 posts will take me for ever! but if it is for the good of the site then i will just have to sell on ebay until i gather enough posts :(

what about if i have over 700 posts etc on uksc and am a reputable member on there?

Not as simple as that I'm afraid... For example, if you sold something to another member that you believed was fine, and then the member complained, would you be OK if we banned you?

Don't forget, us Mods have a fair bit to do on here, and we simply haven't got the time to act as mediators in disputes where one party tells us one thing, and another tells us a different story. If it's a clear cut case (non-delivery for example), then fine, but don't forget, all we can do is try to help... We may be the law on TGTT, but that's where it unfortunately ends...

Yeah true i see what you mean!
But its a no win situation really cause for example i could sell something to you that i said was in good condition you get it and say its poor condition but your mate thinks its good condition!

either that or you ask the person for pics with the date on them

Think used electronical equipment should be shown tested and new must be untouched in original box.

Think if the sales section closed down it will effect people gettin hold of parts easily

Yeah true,i joined this site cause i thought it was far better than the other starlet forum, more stuff for sale and more info about, every car forum has a for sale thread and parts wanted!

That means wanted section goes too

So we are in agreement... no one wants the for sale section to go... This means we are going to have to make the for sale rules more stringent. I just hope that members see the reasons for doing this.

The simple fact is... something needs to change.

Closing its the quickest solution but not really the best, should be a paid member and earn the right to sell items with a 300post / 3months membership as chris said, and items should have more pics and detail to if theres a scratch or what ever Mention it and add pics of it, you may not think its a big problem but a buyer might do!

if you sell somthing that could get damaged in transit the buyer should make sure its insured so if anything does happen you've a way of getting cost's back if its damaged rather than the customer complaing its broken and you've no way to prove it wasnt before it was sent etc etc!

just my 2p.

This sounds like a wakeup call for both sellers and buyers on the site.

Both parties have to smarten up or the whole section is in jeopardy. For the simple matter of agreeing a sale properly, people are suffering.

Buyers and sellers should agree the terms of the sale before money exchanges hands. This means the item's condition is certain, the delivery methods and insurance are arranged and the time scale involved is agreed. Also backup contact details would be advisable too.

For the sake of ten minutes you can save weeks and months of worry and uncertainty.

It makes it a hell of a lot easier for a moderator to come into the picture months later and see who has broken their end of the deal.

Makes sense no?

just my 2p.

Expensive item should be sent recorded, Should be a option to buyer what postage he choose, any thing goes wrong, the buyer would to be blame.

dont think people on hear are listening to some other members who have the same issue as me. I HAVE BEEN A MEMBER FOR A WHILE, BUT DONT POST ALOT?? where do we stand?

i agree that something has to be done, and i will back the decision made by the mods but i think it should be taken into consideration people who are in my situation.

personally i think paid member and 3 months on the site, leaving the post count at 50. also the idea about your user name in the pic is very good, if you make the effort to take the pic then it shouldnt be an issue to get your user name in the pic 2!!
