***Closing the Classifieds Section***

I've always thought the sales section on this forum is really poor, considering how busy it gets I'm suprised that it's still not been rectified. It takes a huge amount of time from Moderators.

There are alot of non paid members who have very attractive items for sale, I don't think it's such a good idea to restrict them.

As mentioned before, the best user experience I've had on a forum was on imoc.

imoc.jpg

The seller finialises the transaction, response is left by each party, the transaction is recorded, the thread is automatically closed. Trackable and tidy.

now thats good.

Its mad how things go a few months back people complaining about how strict the rules are on here even saw a thread on other forum calling the staff here nazi's just because someones for sale thread did'nt get approved here. Then a few things happen everyone wants the rules to be even tighter even though they were to strict and a joke a while back it is funny how things go.

I'm all on for doing what it takes to help the buyers on here there is a lot of work to do as it is eg. enforcing the current rules, trying to be mediators between bickering buyers and sellers, watching new members/members to see if spamming there way up to sell stuff and there is alot of new people signing up here as you all know, sifting through feedback threads cutting out all the shit from the clowns who jump on a band wagon even though it has nothing to do with them etc.

People talk about responsibility of forum staff this is not a business where the members selling something are like staff and we are like their bosses there is only so much we can do and its kinda hard to police when its a global site not as if everyone is under one roof in a building where we can just walk over to them and ask what the fu*ks the story with you not sending the parts to this dude. Its a car forum and its just handy for people to sell on parts to fellow memebrs if your not happy with using it use ebay as thats what its for. I did'nt come on here to be and e-bay worker I'm into my cars and do what I can to help the members I think its good the amount of work the staff already do for buyers and sellers when they dont have to do any of it dont you think?

I agree something has to be done and its shit what has happened recently it just ruins it for everyone. Keep the great the ideas coming and we will work through this a community to get a good system set up by the members for the members. I'm just out driving my new Prius so cant stop speak soon.. :)

can we have a sales feedback link placed below our avatar?just like the members garage link?

It's been mentioned before and I also think it would be a step in the right direction.

There's only a couple of issues I can see with doing this, which Dylan could probably comment on.

  • Threads will need to be created for members that currently have no feedback thread.
  • A thread will need to be automatically created when a new account is registered with the site.

I'm not sure if the forum software is able to do this automatically?

looks good aswell  nice one,

times change lads & ladies, people are desperate for cash, making things tighter might piss people off but its for their own good, what worked well then doesnt mean it works well now. then if people are confirmed to be fraudsters, they could be addded to the list of untrusted sellers, kind of like watch out for these user names.

i get this all day every day at work, rules are changed for customers own good & to keep them protected.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't mein herr but I'd rather we take the flak than let the scammers take folks money.

I can certainly see the fustration but one thing I do like is seeing regular members keeping the newbies in order. It's common to find anyone breaking the rules told off by a few peeps before we even spot them.

Whatever we decide to do will require the assistance and support of our members.

I think getting a trading policy should be better,

to apply for trading policy.
1. select a mod and ask for a trading policy,
2. after your request has been accepted form the mod send £5 for postage and paper, (this way the we will have you ligitiment address.)
3. once you fill out the T's & C's (address, name, contact no.) send back to mod.
4. mod decideds if you can have a traders policy.

then the infomation is kept on a file, and if some thing happens BAM we know how to get hold of you.

i like the sound of that but not every1 wants to be a trader, would be a good idea doing that for sales in general as some people like myself only sell 1 or 2 items at a time, u must provide proof of address b4 u can sell anything and leave a contact number and reconfirm it everytime u sell something

to be fair lads ya do a great job, its nothing against anyone at all or admin, people just want to see a change to help themselves and others, its positive feedback & that always helps, people circumstances change & this is why there is a load of scammers. ( one of the reasons) implement some ideas, we all need to adapt & see how it goes for the next while.

maybe we should up the post count to 100+

and make it harder to get the post count up, something like you only get post count in certain sections,

that way it gets rid of 90% of chancers as it means they really got to use the site and become part of the comunity,

it worked when we put the original 50 post count rule in,

Holding personal information on members is one thing, but what is it going to be used for? I would think it to be a blatant breach of the Data Protection Act to pass such information onto a third party.

This.

Storing personal information will be more trouble than its worth.
