Forged 5EF(T)E Build

Hey Guy, I am building a 5efte with forged internals and a rebuilt gearbox with a Quaiffe diff and looking for some advice on oils to use after it has been run in. The gearbox oil, engine oil and what about the diff? It will have a FMIC, K26 hybrid, Emanage, decat, fueling amongst loads of other mods. Max boost will be 1.8 Bar. Hopefully pushing out 350bhp odd when finished.

I would go for the worst case which would be hard driven street and track use. I would not expect the oil temp to go above 85.

Can you make any recommendations for this set-up?
Cheers

Pete,

At those oil temps I would go with a good 5w-40 synthetic, if you want the best then ester based http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx

For the gearbox and diff the Silkolene Syn5 75w-90, it is also quaiffe approved http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-850-silkolene-silktran-syn-5-75w-90-fully-synthetic-gear-oil.aspx

i think it was motoquip or something like that not sure if its any good or not thats all they had at the suppliers

as for the problems there all in this thread if you dont mind having a nosey at it

http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48190

Just had a quick look, it could be the oil but I am not sure you would get that 'feel' from using the wrong oil. You could give it a change and see how it goes, its the cheapest solution to try first.

Owen,

The Pro S 10w-50 is a great oil, but I would say its not needed for your starlet, the Pro S 5w-40 would be my choice.

Dont put 20w-50 anywhere near the starlet, it will give it too higher blood pressure! I would go 5w-40 or 10w-40 synthetic, ester based. Silkolene Pro, Motul 300v and Gulf Comp if you want the best.

For the mini, I love these. Most will tell you to use a mineral 20w-50, dont listed to them the correct kind of synthetic will look after the engine/gearbox much better. Have a look at the Silkolene Pro R 15w-50 here http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-705-sil...nthetic-oil-for-high-performance-engines.aspx Or the Silkolene Comp4 20w-50 here http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-1123-si...ine-oil-for-high-performance-motorcycles.aspx

Cheers

Guy.
