water leaking for overflow bottle after hard drive

90% likely the headgasket! Like Turbodave, when i first got my GT years ago i had this problem, done everything first hoping it wasnt HG. Then of course it decided to finally let go properly. 90% certain its HG, if its HG, 90% certain its cylinder 3 pressurising the water system ;) BTW...

    Handbrake cable needed/help

Dody handbrake is almost definitely the caliper! Rear starlet calipers are utter crap. I balance mine between leaving it on and off over night! Leave it on too much it siezes on, leave it off too much it loses effciency! lol Plus changing the cable is a PITA, those M6 bolts holding it on love...

Shut it reeks, you are the king of bodges!!! :p Yeah i think i will have to attempt to make some sort of backing plate for it also. Will see how i get on on sat. Cheers guys. Harvey

    HEL braided lines

Recently bought some of these, but the fitting that connects to the hard pipe, is a completely different shape to the chassis bracket. Anyone else fitted these. And how did you get around it? Only way i can see is by somehow using one of those clips on each side of the bracket in the 2 slots...

car starting badly. getting worse :(

My AW11 before i bought it had 'hot' starting issues apparently and was traced back to the dizzy, rebuilt was fine. Just a thought thats all, they might be able to cause random cold start issues too!

    5e glanza ct9 turbo

Bear in mind a 5E with 4EFTE pistons is in theory about 9.3-9.4:1 CR....... I need to do some measurements tho, but dont have the bits to do this... I am begininng to think the 5E must sit the piston lower in block then a 4E so wouldnt be so high CR :)

    valve adjustment

Yeah that is right. The firt guide is for our shim over bucket OHC 4E/5E engines. 2nd guide is for older one with rocker arms. Sorting them is fairly simple, just turn engine over so the lowest part of cam lobe is over shim, use feeler guage to measure, write on this down, then you have to...

car starting badly. getting worse :(

Could possibly be the distributor? Maybe try swapping the dizzy's over as sounds like you have 2 GT? See if the problem shifts! Just remember to mark where the dizzy is now. Altho of course maybe the dizzy is wrong position timing wise... But then that would in thoery cause issue every time...

    flywheel question

Is it a C series gearbox? Presume it is, so it should be fine. Is it a 3E or 3ETE flywheel?? I think 3E takes a 200mm clutch like the 4EFE/5EFE/4AFE/ some 4AGE etc etc 3ETE is 212mm like 4EFTE/most 4AGE/ few others Thats the main thing is the check if its a 200 or 212 clutch.

5e clutch disc with 4e pressure plate

Which 4E are you talking about??? 4EFE and 5E are 200mm clutch 4EFTE is 212mm so wont mix. If it is a normal 4EFE then it should work fine, so can only think you may have put the clutch plate in wrong way round?

how to tell if cluctch is starting to slip

Best way to test if the clutch is slipping is to climb a hill in 5th at a moderate speed. Put your foot down, it will rev up but not gain much speed if its slipping! As for juddering, could possibly be the release bearing worn out, or could be an early sign of the clutch. Either way the box...

how to modify 4e flywheel for 5e

Can you not get 5e fly from toyota?? I thnk in South afica you had a corolla turbo with the 1.5 12v engine which is a 3E-TE its basically a 12v older version of the 5EFE. The fly fits but also takes the bigger 212mm clutch of the starlet turbo

    Gm 3 bar map sensor

as sheldon says can use a 4EFTE one. Either way the fuelling is going to be no way near right, you need someway of modifying the fuel! Emanage or similar would be a good bet!

    Engine Weight

I picked up a 20v 4AGE ST with gbox attached from riko in oxford a while back :D drive from dorset so like nearly 100 miles each way at a guess. That would have weighed 170kg ish. No hassle at all :D a bare 4E is gonna be no more then bout 100kg. Thats like having a moderately heavy person in...

    Innovate LC-1 Wideband

I think they are pretty much on par with each other so comes down to personal preference. Yeah you gotta calibrate it before you install it, and every now and then like starlet666 said, but no big deals. Its presumably the same with all of them. You get somewhere incuded with it to hook up...

    Air to Fuel Ratio Tuning

I have bought an innovate LC1 havent plumbed it in yet. Good thing is you can re program the 2nd output to ideband too, and plug it into the emanage then use the emanage software to log rpm vs AFR (in a % value) so no need to pay another £100 for the rpm sensor adapter for the LC1  Just...

    quick question about tyre sizes

If you were to try and keep to the stock overall tyre circumferance - then 195/45R15 is the closest tyre. However, most people (me included) use 195/50R15) and it has several benefits... Slightly better ride (touch more sidewall flex) better choice of tyres, and best bit - they are cheaper...
